"As a musician, performer, actress & composer, my performance work is hybrid in nature through its dialectics, crossovers and synergies with the fine arts.

During my training as a classical viola player, I took several master classes in Belgium, Swiss and France and I graduated in Antwerp (Belgium) in 1999. I chose to be a freelancer, in order to expand my search for artistic expression, outside the various conventional chamber and symphonies orchestras in which I have worked over the last ten years. Currently I work as a freelance viola player for the Orchestra Philharmonique de Liège (Belgium) and also as a freelance guide in De Munt/La Monnaie (opera theatre in Brussels).

‘Cicerone (guide) of the inner fantasy’ is the title of my current research period (2014-15) and a trajectory that mainly investigates the exploration of an ‘impulse’ within the inner fantasy. (VGC Grant -City of Brussels-)

My Art Education Program is an extension of my working method and this has led me to design two components: SIGI'S BOAT and ‘SHIP OF CREATIVITY’.

I look very much forward to evolve my work-in-progress CRINKLES & CRACKLES  during the residency in ARTERRA.

Merryl Custers completou o curso de Belas Artes em 2013 e tem trabalhado predominantemente em programas com a comunidade, e ao longo dos ultimos 6 anos colaborou em murais, intervenções em espaços públicos e design de cena conceptual.

Pintora de coração, o seu trabalho em estúdio envolve a sua fascinação e atenção pelas normas sociais, tanto cultural como visualmente.

" Através da manipulação e interpretação visual , procuro desconstruir as normas e práticas que fazem parte do" instinto animal humano para se "encaixar" socialmente.

Having completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts from ECU, Perth in 2013, Merryl Custers has worked predominantly in community art programs over the last six years, specialising in conceptual stage design, murals and public spaces.

A painter at heart, Merryl's studio work indulges her life-long fascination with societal norms, both visually and culturally.

"Foi com muita alegria que recebi a confirmação da minha estadia em ARTErra/Tondela. Espero por dias intensos de muita criatividade!Estou positivamente ansiosa pela oportunidade de trabalhar com, conhecer e sentir uma outra “terra”, a “terra preta”... e com ela dar forma e corpo a minha inspiração, lembranças e sentimentos! Estou também curiosíssima para ver o resultado do modo particular em que a argila será mais tarde queimada!Comecei desde muito nova meu trabalho com modelamento de argila. Antes mesmo de terminar o liceu, abri meu pequeno atelier, três pequenas salas comerciais de uma casa de enxaimel medieval  (Fachwerkhaus) em Paderborn, no meio norte da Alemanha. Lá, paralelamente a pintura, que sempre foi o meu meio de expressão principal, produzi várias pequenas esculturas.Viagens pela região do Mediterâneo, Oriente Médio e América do Sul, as impressões de tantas paisagens, culturas, pessoas e músicas têm sempre influenciado fortemente minha arte. A Música é simplesmente essencial quando eu estou a criar. Ela permite-me imergir e viajar no fluxo da inspiração. "It was with great joy that I received confirmation of my stay in ARTErra-  Tondela. I hope by intense days of great creativity! I am positively looking forward to the opportunity to work with, know and feel another" land ", the" black clay ".. . and with her body shape and my inspiration, memories and feelings! I am also very curious to see the result of the particular way in which the clay will later be burned! I started from an early age my work with clay modeling. Before you even finish high school, I opened my little studio, three small commercial offices of a medieval half-timbered house (Fachwerkhaus) in Paderborn in northern half of Germany. There, alongside the painting, which has always been my main means of expression, producing several small sculptures .Viagens by mediteraneo region, Middle East and South America, impressions of many landscapes, cultures, people and music have always strongly influenced my art. Music is simply essential when I'm creating. It allows me to immerse in and travel inspiration flow. Experiences and impressions will then be transposed on screen or in clay forms. My exhibitions were exclusively made in my atelier or in private homes, in Germany in Paderborn, Munich, Regensburg; in São Paulo, in Brazil, or in Porto, Portugal. I feel especially connected to Portugal. The three years he lived in Porto, from 2011 to 2014, were extremely inspiring and fertile, taking my art to another level of production. Diana Vega- Dialogues in ARTErra

Diana Vega é o nome da nossa próxima residente, colombiana a viver e a trabalhar na Alemanha. O seu processo de trabalho foca-se na multiplicidade de relações que o corpo cria com os objectos num determinado espaço.  A Fotografia, performance e collage tem sido a base para a exploração do seu trabalho.
" Durante a minha residência no ARTErra explorarei a paisagem do local em collage. Estou interessada nas múltiplas narrativas que são criadas em contextos diferentes, dependendo das caracteristicas fisicas e as relações que cada individuo realiza nas suas rotinas. Interessa-me explorar a cor e texturas emergindo assim na ambiência da paisagem  observando a configuração do espaço e tempo. O meu objectivo é estabelecer um constante diálogo com as imagens que trabalho (collages) e criar discussão sobre a sua composição, transmitindo sentidos e gerando novas possibilidades e novos niveis de observação."
Diana Milena Vega is a colombian artist who is living and working in Germany at the moment.Her working process is focussing on the multiple relations between the body and the objects in acertain space. The photography, performance and collage have been her base and experimentation.“During my residence in ARTErra I will realize a collage work basing upon the landscape of theplace. I am interested in the multiple narratives which are created in different contexts, dependingon the physical characteristics and the relations which establish individuals in their daily living. Iam interested in exploring the colours, textures and the immersed mood in the landscape,observing the configuration of space and time.My aim is to establish a constant dialogue with the images I worked on, from Collages, andgenerate a discussion through its composition, transmitting the found sensations and generatingnew possibilities of images and new levels of observation.”
